A woman of vision, service, and strength whose leadership continues to transform Region 10, Guyana.
In every generation, there are individuals whose work speaks louder than words. For Region 10, that person is Leola Leonia Narine — a woman of vision, service, and substance. With over two decades of experience in governance, administration, business, and community development, she has dedicated her life to empowering people and building a Region 10 that works for everyone.
Born and raised in Linden, Leola’s story is one of hard work, integrity, and purpose. Whether in the public service, private enterprise, or the community, she has consistently shown that effective leadership begins with genuine care for people.

A Proven Public Servant and Administrator
For twelve years, Leola Narine served as Assistant Regional Executive Officer (AREO) for Sub-Region 2 (Kwakwani), overseeing the key areas of education, health, agriculture, infrastructure, and administration.
She coordinated Presidential and Ministerial outreaches, organised major public events, and ensured that residents’ voices were represented in regional and national decision-making.
During both the Kwakwani floods and the COVID-19 pandemic, she worked closely with the Guyana Civil Defence Commission, leading local disaster response and ensuring citizens received timely support.
- LEAF/LEAP (EU-funded projects) – Credit Officer and Board Member, helping entrepreneurs secure small business financing.
- CARICOM Insurance Inc. (formerly Guyflag) – Manager, Marketing and Administration.
- NCN Linden – Marketing and Public Relations, enhancing regional information outreach.
- Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development – Administrative Officer, supporting governance systems and service delivery.

A Businesswoman and Innovator
Leola is also a dynamic entrepreneur whose ventures promote local talent, innovation, and empowerment. She is the Owner and Managing Director of two successful enterprises:
- Media and Advertising Consultancy Agency – providing strategic communication, marketing, and outreach solutions across the region.
- Travellers Pleasure Travel Service – a full-service travel agency promoting regional tourism and facilitating domestic and international travel for Guyanese.
Through her businesses, she has provided opportunities for young professionals and contributed to local economic development.

A Champion for Women, Youth and Community Empowerment
As a strong advocate for women and girls, Leola has worked tirelessly to promote equal opportunity and leadership. She has collaborated with the United States Embassy on programmes designed to uplift women and young girls across Region 10, helping them gain confidence, skills, and a stronger voice in society.
Her work also extends to partnership with Mr. Azruddin Mohammed, where she assisted in initiatives that empowered residents of Region 10 through employment, skills training, and community investment.
Leola’s commitment to grassroots empowerment is evident in her work with Indigenous leaders. She was instrumental in organising and establishing Guyana’s first-ever Regional Toshao Council — an idea that originated from her own strategic brainstorming. This pioneering model has since been replicated across the country, strengthening local governance and Indigenous representation.
She also played a key role in initiating regional sports programmes in Region 10, which are now being replicated nationwide — fostering youth engagement, discipline, and community unity through sport.
